28th June 2016

A day of relatively light south-west winds and increasing cloud until a belt of heavy rain arrived late afternoon. Seawatching highlights included 31 Manx Shearwaters and 14 Sandwich Terns flying north. However, the stand-out was a summer-plumaged Little Auk that also flew north close inshore at 0905hrs; although not unprecedented in June, it still represents an amazing record.

Away from the sea, the Mute Swan remained on North Marsh and a male Stonechat accompanied a juvenile in the Bay Brambles below the Lighthouse.
