The work at Flamborough Bird Observatory is undertaken by a team of dedicated volunteers. By becoming a member, you’ll join a growing community of like-minded people determined to establish Flamborough as one of the UK’s best birding destinations. You’ll be helping to fund a vital series of conservation projects, as well as the production of the Annual Report. In return, you’ll receive a range of benefits, including:

If you are 13-21 years old, FBO is offering you free ‘digital’ observatory membership: 

  • you will receive the same ‘electronic’ package as our normal membership i.e. email updates, newsletters and exclusive access to our WhatsApp Group providing information on latest sightings;
  • find out about how Observatory work is carried out;
  • learn alongside a mentor to help develop your fieldcraft/bird identification;
  • participate in conservation work to improve habitats;
  • assist the work of the ringing team.

All of these could help bolster your CV if looking at a career in conservation. You will also be able to purchase a copy of the latest Bird Report for £10.
